Any symbol works — these are only here to save typing. An accession number (NM_…, ENSG…) or a genotype-specific note is just as good; put it in the same box.
Gene expression — probe-based qPCR
A primer pair plus a hydrolysis probe for one target. This is the route for TaqMan-style chemistry, multiplexing, or any assay where you want a probe rather than a melt curve.
Gene expression — SYBR primer pair
Two unmodified primers, no probe. Priced per base, so the figure depends on how long the design comes out — which is why this one is quoted rather than added to the basket here.
A designed primer pair is normally 18 to 24 bases each, so at the 25 nmol scale it lands near the price of two 20 nt primers on the price list. We send the exact figure with the design.
Knockdown — siRNA
Predesigned or custom siRNA against your target, with a matched non-targeting control. Supplied annealed and ready to resuspend.
miRNA — mimic, inhibitor, controls
Sequence-fixed catalogue products: for a given miRBase ID the molecule does not change, so these are held in stock and leave the same business day.
Knockout — CRISPR guides
Chemically synthesised guides against your target, with tracrRNA and non-targeting controls. In primary cells the end-protected version is usually worth the difference.
Why the design happens when you order
Plenty of suppliers will hand you a stored primer pair the moment you type a gene symbol. We design yours against the reference as it stands today instead, and that is a deliberate choice.
A stored assay was designed against a genome build, on a particular day, for a particular set of transcripts. Builds get revised, transcripts get merged and split, and a design that was clean in 2019 can now sit across a retired exon boundary or match a paralogue nobody had annotated yet. The sequence still looks perfectly reasonable on the screen. It costs you an experiment, and you find out at the bench.
So the design happens when you order, against what the reference says now, and you get the reasoning with it. If we ever put a library of ready-made assays on this page it will be one we have actually run, and it will say so, with the data behind it.
